So they have put the oil for a diesel in a petrol car? Isn't this what the user manual quotes: SAE 5W-20 engine oil meeting specification WSS-M2C925-A. Where ambient temperatures fall to lower than -20 deg C, SAE 0W-20 engine oil meeting Jaguar Land Rover specification STJLR.51.5122 should be used.

Hi ihave a 2005 diesel x type, running perfectly parked up last night ok .This morning will not start, all lights on dash working, battery charged, checked fuses under bonnet, when you turn ignition key there is a clicking coming from around the fuse box and a large junction connection next to fuse box.No sound from starter motor.engine light on dash stays on.Has anyone any ideas before i call
Itās actually quite a common problem on the earlier S-Types from 1999-2002. These models use a 5-port DCCV (Dual Climate Control Valve) (a.k.a. āheater valveā) that tend to get stuck in closed position. The 3-port DCCVs from the 2003-2008 S-Types donāt tend to get this problem.

High Oil levels could result in what's known as 'pull over' which could potentially cause a runaway engine condition.
May 2013. So I've encountered a problem which seems to be relatively common with S-Types after heaving my heater valve replaced (heat was no longer working) the AC on my 2000 S-Type 3.0 now blows hot. Basically what happens is when I turn on the car, it blows cool (ish) for the first minute or so then goes straight to hot.

Yes the transfer case can be an issue on the Jaguar X Type due to the folowing reasons: The X Type was built at the time when Ford acquired Jaguar and they designed the transmission and transfer case to not be "consumer serviceable".
